Goals and aims

The overall goal of the Dementia Services Collaborative (DSC) is:

To improve services for people with dementia and their carers

The key aims of the DSC are:
  • To increase recognition of dementia, thus aiding earlier diagnosis and improving management
  • As a consequence of better recognition of dementia, to improve detection rates for depression
  • To help ensure that dementia services are person-centred
  • To improve systems to explore patient and carer experiences
  • To help to co-ordinate services between agencies.
From the DSC aims a number of key themes were developed:
  • Early Detection
  • Communication
  • Person-centred Care
  • Care Coordination.
And from these Six Collaborative Objectives  were set.
