Workforce

The NIMHE Workforce Programme aims to ensure there are sufficient staff, with the right knowledge, skills, experience and capabilities working together in the most effective ways, to provide person-centred approaches and support new models of care.

Central to the delivery of the workforce programme in the North East, Yorkshire and Humber is partnership working with providers and commissioners for both health and education together with those agencies concerned with workforce development in the social care and voluntary sector.

The workforce programme focusses on:

  • Education and Training
  • New Ways of Working
  • New Roles
  • Leadership and Development

New for 2007

We have worked with the Shepherd Taylor Partnership to produce A Guide to Connecting - a workforce development organisational handbook. This provides a way to create a footprint of knowledge to pass on through a period of change to support a consistent approach in the complex environment of the care sector. There is also a handbook written specifically for the North East.

Overall responsibility for the workforce programme, including leadership and dvelopment lies with our Workforce Development Lead, Elaine Readhead.

Our lead for education and training and new roles is Nicki Hollingsworth

Our lead for new ways of working and effective team leadership is Judi Egerton
